PEACE - Day 5

Weekly Prayer:

Prince of Peace, we long for the tranquility only you can bring. As we navigate the busyness of this season, help us find rest in your presence and be instruments of your peace to a world in need. In your name, we pray. Amen.

Friday December 20th: Luke 1:46-55

“Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! For he took notice of his lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed. For the Mighty One is holy, and he has done great things for me. He shows mercy from generation to generation to all who fear him. His mighty arm has done tremendous things! He has scattered the proud and haughty ones. He has brought down princes from their thrones and exalted the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away with empty hands. He has helped his servant Israel and remembered to be merciful. For he made this promise to our ancestors, to Abraham and his children forever.”

Reflection: When Mary learns that the Messiah would be born to her, she breaks out in a song. But her song is not just about her own fortune, but that through Jesus The Kingdom of God would reign on earth. For Mary that meant that the humble (like herself) would be exalted, and the hungry would be filled. Take time today as you prepare to celebrate Christmas, to thank the Lord that his favor is not because we are the best, smartest, most holy, but that in our brokenness, humility, and hunger, He came to bring peace to ALL who call on Him.
